About once a month Edie and I take our mini-van to the local Bubba’s Car Wash to hose it off and remove all the half eaten French fries from the floorboard.  She really enjoys this errand and acts like I am doing her a favor letting her tag along.

This week while wiping the doors down with an antibacterial wipe, Edie accidently flipped the lock button on the door.  I realized this as I slammed it shut, and she waved at me from inside.

On the brink of panic mode, I talked her through unbuckling her seatbelt and climbing into the front.  Without missing a beat, she unlocked the car, and the catastrophe was averted.

Afterwards, I gave her big hugs and told her what a great job she did following my directions.  “You saved the day, Edie!” I said.

“Yea, I know,” she said plainly as she shrugged her shoulders.  “I’m a hero.”
